Vineyard Notes
The grapes for this blend were sourced from one of Napa Carneros Vineyards, one of the Southern most borders of the Napa Valley. Soils are Haire Clay Loam and the terraced vineyards on the rolling hills benefit from the cooling fog and breezes from the nearby San Pablo Bay, producing red varietal wines that tend to express bright flavor and supple tannin.

Tasting Notes

Ruby red in color with undertones of violet. On the front, it’s got pomegranate and a blueberry essence. It mellows back to papaya and clove. It has little bit of lavender, but in a dark way.  Bright acidity boosts the taste buds and it has lingering finish with a hint of cassis.

VINTAGE
In January and February, plenty of rain cleansed soil for a good start. Both bud break and flowering occurred relatively late than average. Mild and gradual temperature rise without frost risk throughout flowering season made plentiful and even fruit set. Warm summer, with cool marine influences in the mornings and evenings, allowed for a long growing season, uninterrupted by any major heat spikes. Moderate heat and no early rain provided near-ideal conditions to allow fruit extended hang time for gradual ripening to develop the optimal quality of flavor complexity.

VINEYARDS
Located in the heart of the Rutherford Bench, a small family-owned Napa Valley vineyard devoted to producing great wines for great causes. Farmed sustainably and wines produced from this vineyard are consistently highly regarded in each vintage.

TASTING NOTES
This complex wine begins with vibrant aromas of red cherry and blackberry followed by a bouquet of violets, cedar, and bittersweet chocolate completed by earthy elements such as flint and dried shells. As the wine opens up, hints of currant and vanilla are revealed. Full-bodied, this wine offers up youthful tannins of great quality, enriching the mid-palate mouthfeel. The mouthfeel is round and creamy with smooth tannins, leading to a long finish. Already showing beautifully, this wine will continue to open and gain complexity in the bottle for years to come.
